The Kogi State Image Awards (KIMAA) has expressed deep sorrow and solidarity with the families and communities affected by the recent fatal accident involving a Dangote truck along the Okunchi axis in Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State.
In an official statement issued by the organization’s Chief Communication Officer, Etudaiye Raihanat, KIMAA mourned the tragic loss of lives and extended heartfelt condolences to all those affected by the incident.
“This is a deeply painful moment for the people of Kogi State and indeed all well meaning Nigerians. Our hearts go out to the families who lost loved ones and to those nursing injuries from the crash,” the statement read.
The organization, known for recognizing excellence and promoting values of humanity and community service, noted that such tragedies highlights the urgent need for stronger road safety enforcement and corporate accountability.
“The loss of lives in preventable accidents like this is unacceptable. We call on relevant authorities and stakeholders to intensify efforts in enforcing traffic regulations, improving infrastructure, and ensuring companies adhere strictly to safety standards,” Raihanat added.
KIMAA also pledged to leverage its platform to advocate for safer roads across the state, working with civil society, media, and government institutions to promote public awareness and preventive action.
“As an institution that celebrates social impact, we are committed to supporting campaigns that prioritize the safety and welfare of our people. No community should continue to suffer such avoidable grief,” the communiqué stated.
The organization concluded by praying for the peaceful repose of the deceased, healing for the injured, and comfort for the bereaved, while emphasizing that only through collective responsibility can such tragedies be averted in the future.
